In the case of the guys, the purpose of Beauty and the Geek was to give them more confidence and increase their social skills. If you take that equation and apply it to this Venn diagram… so much for becoming “more than just a geek.”

You are. And that is enough.
My interview on Stacy Juba’s website is live! You’re all welcome to take a look, leave comments, etc. (It was a fun interview, so you might enjoy reading the results.)
I didn’t realize it until, oh, 12:30 this morning, so maybe I could have sent a celebration notice to those folks out in L.A.: June 1st marked the 6th anniversary of the premiere of Beauty and the Geek. The worst part (aside from the fact that I forgot) is that I looked online and the traditional gifts for #6 are iron and candy. I totally could have justified buying a ton of Skittles to celebrate.
Why Skittles? To determine whether different mixtures of colors makes the rainbow taste different. Who cares about the empty calories? I’m doing it in the name of science! Geeks rule! And happy anniversary to my Beauty and the Geek peeps, too!
An author named Stacy Juba wrote a mystery suspense novel that asks the question that lurks deep within everyone’s mind: “How do you change the channel when reality TV turns to murder?”
Okay, maybe not everyone’s mind, but to promote the novel, she interviewed a whole bunch of people who have been on reality shows and is posting them for the next three weeks on her blog, stacyjuba.com.
Stacy talked to a friend of mine, that friend referred her to me and my interview will be posted on her blog on June 7th (here’s a link to the schedule). I’m totally getting shafted by being the top story for a single day, but I’ll be okay. I think. *sniff* *sniff*
So feel free to take a look, see what I said (or didn’t say) and enjoy. (I’ll post a link when my interview pops up, but you’re welcome to see what other people said and enjoy those as well.)
Now that Beauty and the Geek is playing in Russia, there’s been a lot of confusion about the model Scarlet Garcia who was murdered back in 2008.
My partner is not dead.
If you don’t believe me, check out this blog post. The model’s name was actually “Scarlet Bouffard”, which probably looked a little awkward on her modeling resume since she was from the Philippines, so “Scarlet Garcia” was born and eventually killed. I’m pretty sure the name change wasn’t the reason she was murdered, but I could be wrong.
Regardless, my partner is still doing just fine out in L.A. and I wish her nothing but the best. Live in peace, Scarlet.
Ooh, found some photos, too… any more questions?
According to someone who sent me a friend request via Myspace, Beauty and the Geek began playing in Russia very recently. (This assumption seems to have been confirmed by all the friend requests I’ve received via Facebook…)
To everyone in Russia who watched and enjoyed the show, thank you very much. I’m glad that I could have a positive influence in your lives or at least make you laugh at the phrase “Yeah, this is great!” and other choice one-liners. (I also hope the Russian producers used my laugh for the sound bites because such a deep baritone is hard to come by.)
So I guess I’m writing this entry for a few reasons:
1) I’m flattered that so many people in Russia were willing to search for me after Beauty and the Geek went on the air.
2) Unfortunately, unless you play certain time-wasting Facebook games, I probably won’t accept your friend request there (don’t feel bad—I used the privacy settings to make sure none of the game players can see anything important about me). Myspace, on the other hand…
3) I just got home from a week and a half of summer camp, I’m leaving on Friday for a trip to Norway and I didn’t want to leave everyone in the lurch for so long.
4) I don’t want to think about packing right now and this seemed like an excellent way to avoid it.
That’s about it. I hope everyone in Europe and Asia is having a wonderful summer and I’ll try to make little posts here and there about my trip over the next month. Unless I drop my laptop into a fjord. If that happens, denying friend requests on Facebook will be the least of my problems.
