Gratitudes 2018, Day 27

  1. Baby Groot. Why? “I am Groot. I am Groot? I! AM! GROOT!!!” (Roughly translated: I can hold Shawn’s pens like a boss.)

  2. My Deadpool piggy bank. Mask, swords, utility belt… the works. Plus a big slot across his shoulder blades big enough for coins. Both 1 and 2 were gifts from Teresa and I’m very grateful for both of them. Plus I like using Deadpool for my spare change instead of a can originally made for Pepperidge Farms Entertaining Cookies. (Quite frankly, I didn’t find those cookies entertaining at all. They couldn’t sing, they couldn’t dance, they couldn’t juggle, they couldn’t guess my card… I gave up and ate them all out of spite.)

  3. Deadpool (the movie). I loved it when I saw it in the theater, so I bought the DVD. Shortly after we started dating, I watched it with Teresa. As pretext, she’s a fan of G-rated swear words (“Oh, shhhhugar!”) But she loved it, too. That was a pretty good sign for things to come.

  4. Ryan Reynolds. He’s absolutely dreamy… except when he’s playing a never-quite-terminal cancer victim. Then he’s hilarious.

  5. Comic books. I’ve got a couple thousand bagged and boxed under my parents’ staircase. One of my favorites? New Mutants #98, Deadpool’s comic book debut. (I have other favorites, but that one gets honorary mention today.)
