The other day at work, I was discharging a Somali family from the ER and was about to wish them a “Happy Holidays” or some other such thing and caught myself before saying anything.
I instead asked them if they celebrated anything around this time of year. “No.” was the reply… Felt kinda bad after that.
So now I’m usually going with preemptive holidays like “Happy Independence Day!!”
