Injuries can be fun!

While playing soccer during the last few months, I’ve strained a few muscles, cramped up a couple times, developed bumps, bruises, rug burns, and a variety of other injuries, but I picked up my favorite during a game tonight.

Someone was taking a shot from just outside the penalty area and I stuck my foot out to try and block it. I was spread out far enough to cover a pretty wide space, but that also left me exposed to… well, let’s just say that my future offspring may have premature brain damage. I immediately bent over at the waist and started cursing wildly (as opposed to curled up on the ground and started crying like a baby). I was kinda surprised that I stayed upright, but I understood why while getting ready to take a shower after the game.

I pulled off my shorts and looked down to see a large red blotch just to the right side of my groin. It may take another day or two before it becomes a bruise—hopefully the other area that got hit won’t suffer the same result—but the blotch itself was kind of interesting. It was mostly a large blob with an area in the middle that was mostly fish-white (I wear shorts when I’m outside, big deal…), but I also saw three red lines that went from the outside to meet at a single point in that middle white area.

The ball hit me so hard, you could see the stitch marks on my leg. No wonder it hurt so much….
